Neck Feathers, Creamy Silk, and Lacy Pom-Poms at Armani Privé

The most striking detail of Giorgio Armani's couture collection, which walked in Paris this afternoon, was the feathered neckpiece nestled beneath almost every model's chin. On some girls, it covered their entire necks; on others, it was just a tuft under their right earlobes. It was an elegant touch on what was otherwise a pretty restrained collection, although it did remind us of that Alvin Schwartz story about the girl who has to wear a ribbon around her neck to keep her head from rolling away ("and then Jenny's head fell off"). Alternatively, as our beauty editor pointed out, the neckpieces could be useful for covering up chin acne.

Other highlights: abundant crystal embroidery, tissue-thin lace tiers, and gauzy skirts trimmed with delicate black pom-poms. Yes, the casting could've used more diversity (of the 53 looks, only four were modeled by Asians, and all the other girls were white), but the clothes were fairy-like and beautiful. See for yourself in our runway slideshow.

Double Hair Croissants at Armani Privé Couture

The models at Armani Privé's couture show are one slouchy opera glove and cigarette holder away from looking like ladies of the manor. You know the type: They lounge about in boudoirs, own actual feather mules, and are prone to fainting spells. The makeup at Armani isn't overly done. It's refined: There's a bit of rouge on the cheeks and lips, plus a defined brow. And the hair, while it looks loose and wispy in front, has plenty of care and consideration that went into the back, by way of a swirled hair croissant. Two of them, actually. Meanwhile, the Downton Abbey ladies are all like, "Been there, done that."

Armani Tried LSD, ‘Felt Like I’d Just Had a Baby’

In an interview with the Telegraph, Giorgio Armani talked about the plight of today's red carpets ("it's a business") and other fashion-industry peccadilloes. But what about that time he tried LSD?

"Si, si!" Armani concurs cheerfully: "I'd better tell you the story. It was a long time ago, we were in the office, and we had finished work exhausted. A friend of a friend said 'hey, take this it will give you energy', so I thought I'd try it. I didn't know what it was. It made me laugh and laugh, like crazy... to the point that my back hurt" - he holds his hips - "like I'd just had a baby."

We're envisioning something like this, only with even better suits.
