Ubisoft security breach exposes user data, Uplay account holders urged to change passwordsUbisoft security breach exposes user data, Uplay account holders urged to change passwords

If you've ever signed up for a Uplay account, your information could now be in the hands of criminals. Ubisoft's confirmed that a security breach at one of its sites, now closed, has granted hackers access to sensitive user data (i.e., usernames, emails and passwords). Critically, no actual financial information was leaked, owing to the fact that Ubisoft doesn't retain personal credit or debit card account numbers on its servers. Regardless, the Assassin's Creed developer is taking proactive measures, contacting account holders directly and strongly advising them to update any related passwords. You can find the full email just after the break.

Dear Member,

We recently found that one of our Web sites was exploited to gain unauthorized access to some of our online systems. We instantly took steps to close off this access, investigate the incident and begin restoring the integrity of any compromised systems.

During this process, we learned that data had been illegally accessed from our account database, including user names, email addresses and encrypted passwords. Please note that no personal payment information is stored with Ubisoft, meaning your debit/credit card information was safe from this intrusion.

Out of an abundance of caution, we also recommend that you change your password on any other Web site or service where you use the same or a similar password.

You can find more information here https://support.ubi.com/en-US/FAQ.aspx?platformid=60&brandid=2030&productid=3888&faqid=kA030000000eYZ2CAM.

For any additional support enquiries, please contact our customer service via our support web site at https://support.ubi.com

We sincerely apologize to all of you for the inconvenience. Please rest assured that your security remains our priority.

FCC listing exposes new Roku Streaming Stick remote with audio out

DNP FCC listing exposes new Roku Stick remote, brings parity with Roku 3 remote

Roku introduced a new remote with audio out for its third generation player, and an FCC filing reveals its Streaming Stick will get the same treatment soon. The new remote adds a headphone out and... that's it, since the Streaming Stick already used WiFi Direct for communication and control. Users shouldn't notice much difference however, in our review the batteries lasted for hours even with headphones plugged in. How does this revised unit align with Roku's plans to become the front end for your TV? We're not sure yet, but it appears the dongle is still a part of its plans.

Hate Crime Charge Exposes Columbia Football Team's Bigoted Tweets

Football-tweetSam-laird By Sam Laird2013-05-09 20:01:17 UTC

A Columbia University football player has been charged with a hate crime for threatening a fellow student, who is Asian, using racial slurs and pushing him against a wall.

NBC broke the news on Wednesday, but that charge was actually just the beginning of the story, which opened a window into a series of bigoted messages posted by Columbia football players to Twitter.

Campus radio station WKCR compiled an Imgur album of nearly four dozen of the players' tweets from 2011, 2012 and 2013. Below are a few highlights — or lowlights, to be more accurate — of the racist and homophobic posts:

"Idk what has more Asians...nail salons or Columbia U?" — quarterback Sean Brackett.

"Any guy who wears lifting gloves to the gym is a fagget" — freshman running back Mike Gerst.

"almost got thrown out of the SAT room for calling a kid a homo when he was wearing capri jeans...what is wrong with our society" — Gerst again.

"@nytimes: New York's Jewish Population Is Growing Again nyti.ms/KwZalh" #fuckkkkkk" — offensive lineman Tom Callahan.

Sure, any athlete or college kid in general can post something stupid on social media, but this is a decidedly bad look for Columbia as the story of the Ivy League bad boys gets picked up more and more around the web. Making things worse are reports that the official Columbia football account actually follows many of the players who posted offensive messages.

WKCR posted to Twitter a letter university administrators sent to Columbia students in response to the hate crime charge and Twitter posts. It reads in part:

With respect to social media messages reportedly posted by some students, we share fully in the belief that offensive messages in any form are unacceptable and fall far beneath the standards of civility and mutual respect we expect of all our students, including student athletes who represent Columbia. We are addressing this matter aggressively with the individuals involved. We also believe that broad generalizations about any group are unfair and hurtful, and we unfortunately have seen that social media has too often become a forum for such offensive comments.

While Columbia may have dropped the ball a bit here as far as monitoring the image its athletes project to the world, more and more college sports teams are placing an importance on social media training for athletes and recruits. For just one example, check out this recent tweet from Arkansas assistant football coach Brian Early:

How close should colleges monitor their athletes' social media posts? Give us your take in the comments.

'Iron Man 3' Footage Exposes Tony Stark's Anger Toward the Mandarin

Iron-man-32013-04-05 19:09:39 UTC

Billionaire bad boy Tony Stark melts down in front of paparazzi — exposing his home address and destroying a journalist's phone before speeding off inside a spiffy ride — in this fresh Iron Man 3 video released Friday.

The man behind the Iron Man armor wants "good old-fashioned revenge" against the villain the Mandarin, who is hellbent on ruining Stark's personal life.

"I'm not afraid of you," Stark, played by Robert Downey Jr., warns the Mandarin. "I know you're a coward. So I decided you just die, pal. I'm going to come get the body."

Iron Man 3 stars Downey Jr. Gwyneth Paltrow, Don Cheadle, Guy Pearce, Rebecca Hall, Stephanie Szostak, James Badge Dale, Jon Favreau and Ben Kingsley.
