Hands-on with prototypes of the Xbox One and new Kinect sensor

We gasped our way through the liveblog. We brought you news of the specs and the software and all that other good stuff. And now it's time to take a deep dive into the Xbox One, Microsoft's next-gen console, and what it might mean for Earth's living rooms. Read on for our hands-on the Xbox One and new Kinect sensor.

Building Xbox One: An inside look at Microsoft's play for the next generation of gaming

The engineers in Microsoft's windowless next-gen Xbox silicon lab are rattled. And understandably so. We're in their office, after all, and we have a mess of cameras in the one place you're not allowed to have cameras. The skittish engineers aren't worried we'll film the mess of 24-inch LCD screens running video-compression tests, or the rows of desks with water hose stations used for temperature stress tests. It's really just a single chip that's causing concern: a custom-built Microsoft SoC that sits at the heart of the Xbox One.

ASUS Transformer Book review: meet ASUS' first detachable Ultrabook

The Transformer Book was an innovative concept when it was first announced a year ago. But now that it's finally shipping with old components, you're better off waiting for a possible Haswell refresh. Read on for our full impressions and review.

Samsung ATIV Book 7 review: a high-end Ultrabook arriving just before Haswell

If you've been waiting for Samsung to refresh last year's Series 9 Ultrabook, don't hold your breath; apart from a recent upgrade to 1080p resolution, it's basically stayed the same. The ATIV Book 7 is a good value among touchscreen Ultrabooks, with a reliable trackpad, fast SSD and lovely display. The main trade-offs are a shallow keyboard and a relatively heavy frame. HTC One for T-Mobile: what's different?

By most accounts, the HTC One is the most compelling Android smartphone on the market today, but only three of the major US carriers are wise enough to sell it.
