Eyebrows in the way? Singe them off with Adafruit's DIY flame organ, debuting just in time for the holiday weekend. If fireworks aren't enough to put the sizzle in your Independence Day party, all you need to light up your very own MIDI instrument are a few relays, solenoid valves, a digital music workstation (Adafruit recommends Livid Instruments' BASE paired with Ableton Live and Pure Data) and a blatant disregard for your own mortality. The official tutorial is still in the works, but you can watch the flame organ blaze with a patriotic tune after the break. If you're brave -- or foolish -- enough to attempt to build one of your own, just promise us that you won't drink and DIY.

First Look: Raf Simons’s Beautiful New Art Book

"Fashion is not there to educate you, but to challenge you," Raf Simons shares in one of the numerous interviews included in his new coffee-table book, curated by i-D mastermind Terry Jones. "Sometimes I speak with young kids and I have the feeling ... not that they have no interest, but that they look at it a different way. This is the reason I chose to do fashion, to create a dialogue and bring people together." In the Taschen release, aptly titled Raf Simons, readers are guided through his impeccably tailored menswear line, reinvented Jil Sander, and new look since he took charge of Dior in 2012. Throughout, the book includes 120 pages of photographs dug up from the i-D archives as well as essays and interviews by Terry and journalist Tricia Jones, among others. Sprinkled between are quotes from the designer himself: "My own label is very much linked to my past and to my environment. It's darker, dirtier, and more underground ... " one reads, while another adds, "Isolation. Disorder. Incubation. They really represent certain aspects of my work and come from Joy Division. It goes back to my youth." Listen to Mariah Carey's 'Beautiful' Single Featuring Miguel

Hashtag. Hashtag. Hashtag. It's like the Marcia Brady of symbols for musicians. Mariah Carey is the latest to infuse a song title with a hashtag, plopping one in her new single, "#Beautiful," featuring fellow Grammy winner Miguel.

Carey's crew released the track Monday morning and said a video for it will premiere Wednesday during American Idol. As a judge on the singing competition, Carey sometimes uses "hashtag" in her positive critiques as in "hashtag pow."

Carey and Miguel wrote and produced "#Beautiful," which is the lead single from her forthcoming album that will debut this summer. Listen to the song below:

This 26-second teaser for the single's music video appeared on YouTube on April 25 and has since garnered more than 2 million views. The full video will drop on Vevo and YouTube on May 8 after the American Idol premiere.

Carey's still-untitled new album wil be her first full-length studio album since 2009's Memoirs Of An Imperfect Angel. It will feature "more raw ballads than people might expect," she told Billboard. Producers lending a hand are Jermaine Dupri, Bryan-Michael Cox, Big Jim Wright, Hit-Boy, Mike Will, The-Dream and Rodney Jerkins.

Beautiful Aurora Borealis Time Lapse Is Out of This World

The Aurora Borealis is one of nature's most spectacular shows.

Freelance photographer Göran Strand captured the beauty of the cosmic light show in a time lapse video that will transport you without ever leaving your office chair.

Strand filmed the Northern Lights on March 17 over the snowy landscape of Östersund, Sweden. According to the video's description on YouTube, the clip contains more than 40Gb of data and took five days to process. So it's huge and stunning — a double win and, consequently, a must watch.
