Zeebox is making good on its cooperation with Gracenote today with the announcement that the second screen app can now automatically identify what you're watching through analysis of the show's "audio fingerprint." Several second screen TV apps use similar technology to sync up with what's on TV, although this implementation is more closely matched to what we've seen from IntoNow. Naturally, use of the latest feature is entirely optional, which includes the ability to automatically listen in when you start the app, along the with ability to manually activate the function by tapping a microphone icon. Gracenote reps tell us that Zeebox records a short, Vine-length audio clip, and then generates an audio profile based on that, which is recognized by Gracenote's Entourage system -- the audio recording itself never leaves your device. The new functionality is available on all versions of Zeebox, which includes Android, BlackBerry and iOS, but the ability for Gracenote to automatically identify shows is limited to programs that've aired in the past seven days.

Listen to Mariah Carey's 'Beautiful' Single Featuring Miguel

Hashtag. Hashtag. Hashtag. It's like the Marcia Brady of symbols for musicians. Mariah Carey is the latest to infuse a song title with a hashtag, plopping one in her new single, "#Beautiful," featuring fellow Grammy winner Miguel.

Carey's crew released the track Monday morning and said a video for it will premiere Wednesday during American Idol. As a judge on the singing competition, Carey sometimes uses "hashtag" in her positive critiques as in "hashtag pow."

Carey and Miguel wrote and produced "#Beautiful," which is the lead single from her forthcoming album that will debut this summer. Listen to the song below:

This 26-second teaser for the single's music video appeared on YouTube on April 25 and has since garnered more than 2 million views. The full video will drop on Vevo and YouTube on May 8 after the American Idol premiere.

Carey's still-untitled new album wil be her first full-length studio album since 2009's Memoirs Of An Imperfect Angel. It will feature "more raw ballads than people might expect," she told Billboard. Producers lending a hand are Jermaine Dupri, Bryan-Michael Cox, Big Jim Wright, Hit-Boy, Mike Will, The-Dream and Rodney Jerkins.

Listen: Arguments From Today's Gay Marriage Supreme Court Case

The Supreme Court of the United States heard oral arguments Tuesday in the case involving California's Proposition 8, which passed in 2008 and banned the state from recognizing same-sex marriages. The audio of the back-and-forth between the justices and lawyers on either side of the case can be heard in its entirety here:

The Supreme Court won't deliver a ruling on Proposition 8 until later this summer. Oral arguments can give some faint clues as to what the justices might do — indeed, some reporters suggested the justices' comments and lines of questioning might indicate they will decide the case lacks standing.

If the court indeed decides the case lacks standing to be heard, that would mean the lower court's prior striking-down of Proposition 8 would stand. As New York Magazine's Joe Coscarelli wrote, the "nationwide consequences" of that outcome are still up in the air.

Regardless, no prediction based solely on oral arguments should be taken as gospel — anxious advocates and opponents of same-sex marriage will most likely have to wait until late June to hear the results of this case and the one surrounding the Defense of Marriage Act, for which arguments will be heard Wednesday.
