Here's a nice little feature for those of us who love to post images on the internet. Bing has added the ability to refine image results by license. The addition's simple enough to use -- just do a search and pull the appropriate license from a drop down on the top of the results page, alongside options for date, size and color. Selections include public domain and options like "free to modify, share and use," based on the Creative Commons licensing system, so there's no doubt as to precisely how you can incorporate them into your own posts. Google's had a similar option on its own search engine for some time -- albeit one's that's a bit less prominently displayed.

Nintendo 3DS image sharing comes to the US through Animal Crossing New Leaf

Now that Animal Crossing: New Leaf has launched in the US, so too has a Nintendo 3DS feature: public image sharing. American gamers who want to prove their mayoral skills can now snap a screenshot and visit a special website to post their images to Tumblr, Twitter or both. The picture sharing has limited usefulness when New Leaf is the only supporting title in the country, but it still marks a welcome (if tentative) step for Nintendo into a more social world.

DNP NASA creates surveys of our two nearest galaxies using ultraviolet light video

NASA is determined to bring the final frontier closer than ever -- or at least a small, photographic slice of it. Using NASA's Swift satellite, astrophysicists at Goddard Space Flight Center and Pennsylvania State University were able to create a stunningly detailed survey of the two galaxies closest to us: the Small and Large Magellanic Clouds. The 160-megapixel image was painstakingly stitched together using thousands of smaller photographs captured with Swift's Ultraviolet/Optical Telescope. Rendering the galaxies in UV wavelengths allows researchers to study details unseen in visible light images, like individual stars surrounding the Tarantula Nebula in the LMC (the large pink cluster in the photo above). This high-res mosaic provides ample opportunity to study the life cycles of stars, from birth to death, in detail astrophysicists could previously only dream about. Fancy a tour? Google Glass gets a onestop shop for downloads, including a rooted image

Early Google Glass owners are dominated by developers and tinkerers, so it's only fair that they get easy access to the downloads they need. Appropriately, Google has quietly set up a page that centralizes both Glass images and kernel source code. The company has even saved owners from having to hack their eyewear the hard way -- one image comes pre-rooted for those willing to toss caution (and their warranties) to the wind. Most of us can't take advantage of these downloads for about a year or more, but those with early access can swing by the new code hub today.
