ASUS reveals FonePad Note 6inch 1080p display, dualcore 16GHz CPU, 2GB RAM

At its Computex 2013 showcase event, ASUS introduced the new FonePad Note, an Android tablet with stylus support that rocks a slightly smaller form factor than the FonePad announced at MWC. On the front of the device is a 6-inch, 1080p Super IPS+ display, a 1.2-megapixel camera and front-facing stereo speakers (think: the HTC One). The main shooter packs an 8-megapixel sensor, and inside the slate-come-phone is a dual-core 1.6GHz processor (Atom Z2560) paired with 2GB of RAM. While this is billed as a tablet, a 3G antenna is on board for calling and DC-HSPA+ data, so it should handle download speeds up to 42Mbps. No pricing or availability details for the FonePad Note (we doubt Samsung's pleased with that name) have been announced, but we'll let you know if we get any additional intel.

Ask Engadget best tablet bigger than 10 inches

We know you've got questions, and if you're brave enough to ask the world for answers, then here's the outlet to do so. This week's Ask Engadget inquiry is from Anthony, who feels that bigger is better. If you're looking to ask one of your own, drop us a line at ask [at] engadget [dawt] com.

"Back in the days of the Netbook, a 10-inch device was crap, but now 10-inch devices is pretty much all you can get. What's available (and good) that's bigger than 10-inches?"

Well Anthony, there certainly are a few tablets for the meaty-handed out there, but the question of which one you should buy is less clear. After all, there's Archos' 11.6-inch 116 Platinum or Toshiba's 13-inch Excite 13, but if you're prepared to wait a while, Panasonic's forthcoming 20-inch 4K tablet and Viewsonic's rumored 22-inch unit. Of course, that's just a smattering of suggestions from us. This, after all, is Ask Engadget -- so let's open the question up to the floor and see what we can shake out together.

Mobile Miscellany week of May 27th, 2013

If you didn't get enough mobile news during the week, not to worry, because we've opened the firehose for the truly hardcore. This week, a new addition to the LG L-Series surfaced in Russia, a Lumia 920 was sighted that'd make Oscar the Grouch flip, and TalkTalk added three new devices from Huawei to its roster. These stories and more await after the break. So buy the ticket and take the ride as we explore all that's happening in the mobile world for this week of May 27th, 2013.

Lumia 920 surfaces in the luckiest of colorsMobile Miscellany week of May 27th, 2013

The Nokia Lumia 920 is available in many colors, but the absence of a green version is enough to keep Oscar the Grouch, well... grouchy. That could soon change, however, as an Australian retailer has posted a green Lumia 920 for sale on its website. The phone is currently listed as out of stock, but a photo of the device accompanies the listing, which has us hoping that this'll be the real deal. [WMPoweruser]

LG Optimus L4 II outed in RussiaMobile Miscellany week of May 27th, 2013

From all appearances, it seems that LG is about to introduce a new addition to its L-Series family, as the Optimus L4 II has been outed in Russia. The phone is said to contain Android 4.1, a 3.8-inch HVGA True IPS display, a 1GHz single-core MT6575 processor, a 3-megapixel BSI camera, 512MB of RAM, 4GB of expandable storage and a 1,700mAh battery. Like other models in the L-Series, it's said that the Optimus L4 II will be available in single-SIM and dual-SIM versions. Reports suggest the phone will arrive in Russia this month, where it'll will run 5,490 rubles ($172) for the single-SIM version and 5,990 rubles ($188) for the dual-SIM variant. TalkTalk walks the Huawei walkMobile Miscellany week of May 27th, 2013

TalkTalk revealed three budget devices from Huawei for its lineup, which include two smartphones and a tablet. First up is the Ascend G510, which is set to become available on June 4th and will be free on plans of £10 or more. The phone includes Android 4.1, a 4.5-inch WVGA display, a 1.2GHz dual-core CPU, a 5-megapixel rear / VGA front-facing camera, 4GB of expandable storage and a 1,750mAh battery.

As a cheaper alternative, you'll also find the Ascend Y210, which is available now for free on all plans of £5 or more. The phone comes saddled with Android 2.3, but this may be a wise decision given its aging 1GHz Cortex A5 processor. On this one, you'll find a 3.5-inch HVGA display, a 2-megapixel camera, expandable storage and a 1,700mAh battery.

Mobile Miscellany week of May 27th, 2013

As for that tablet we mentioned, it's the MediaPad 7 Lite, which is a relatively dated slate that includes Android 4.0. It's available now, for free on-contract in various smartphone bundles that range in price between £15 (Ascend Y210) and £30 (Galaxy S III). Here, you'll find a 7-inch, 1,024 x 600 IPS display, a single-core 1GHz Cortex A8 CPU, a 3.2-megapixel rear / VGA front-facing camera, 1GB of RAM, 8GB of expandable storage and a 4,100mAh battery.
