Princess Madeleine Wed in Valentino and a Tiara

Another year, another royal wedding: Princess Madeleine of Sweden got married in Stockholm on Saturday in a gown by Valentino, who comes out of retirement every now and then for such occasions. (He's previously made wedding dresses for Jacqueline Onassis, Queen Maxima of Holland, Princess Marie-Chantal of Greece, and, most recently, Anne Hathaway.) Should you be curious about the kind of wedding dress that neither you nor your friends will ever be able to afford, here's what it was made of, according to Valentino's press release:

The dress is created in silk organdies with applications of ivory Chantilly lace. The waist is emphasized by small vertical pleats that open and spread out on the full skirt with a 4-meter long train.  The veil, at 6-meters long, is silk organdies edged with tulle “point d’exprit” with an application of Chantilly lace flowers. The royal tiara is decorated with fresh orange blossoms.

Valentino's sketch of Princess Madeleine's dress.

Her new husband is Christopher O'Neill, a New York–based financier who has declined to have Swedish citizenship for the time being and thus will not be given a royal title. The couple says they will continue to live in New York "due to current obligations," but "will not exclude the possibility of moving to Sweden in due course."

Lab Rat: An Attempt to Give Straight Hair Boho Texture

Those of us born with stick straight hair need a slew of products and heat tools to get that slightly wavy, music-festival feel. AG Hair Cosmetic's newest Texture Spray (available in August) is supposed to give follicles that "model off-duty look" (their words) with just a few spritzes. Per the directions, you just have to spray the product into dry hair, then "coax" and scrunch sections with your hands to give it that lived in, tousled look.

My mane dries perfectly straight with or without the help of a blow dryer. It lives up to the term "wash-and-go." Sure, during the more humid, summer days, a few wayward strands will manage to kink and frizz up, but that's nothing a touch of hair oil can't handle. So the first day I used AG's Texture Spray (closely following the directions), I wasn't surprised that it didn't do much at all — except make it smell nice. It didn't weigh down my hair or have an overly product-y or sticky finish. And if I had color-treated hair, I'd appreciate its protective UV filters. Basically, it didn't feel off from a standard dry shampoo; if I knew how to braid my own hair, I'd trust that the product would offer enough the minimum amount of texture needed to hold one.

On day two, I decided to put a little bit more effort in to see what's possible. So I sprayed it all over on slightly damp hair (more dry than actually damp), then twisted up very small sections into little coils and bobby pinned each to my head. I let it "set" for about fifteen minutes, then gave it a final blast of heat from my hair dryer. After carefully taking out the pins and giving it a shake with my fingers, my hair definitely had that mussed-up, Alexa Chung vibe to it — for about twenty minutes. The second I stepped out into the humidity, it was game over. There was no longer a soft, wavy effect; instead, each section had straightened out with a slight kick at the ends. Those without chemically straightened or naturally linear hair will probably have better luck.

Sony will launch cloud gaming service for PS4 and Vita in 2014

Sony announced that it will provide streamed PS3 games, powered by Gaikai, to Vita, PS3 and PS4 owners next year. While it won't make the launch of the PlayStation 4, Sony says it will be "fast and responsive," and hopefully worth the wait.

PS4 now available for preorder on Amazon at $399

Microsoft may have been the E3 matinée, but Sony's late-night showing was quite impressive -- offering a gaming device that's $100 less, with plenty of other notable features to help it stand out of the next-gen crowd. And if you were waiting around until after the PlayStation press conference tonight before deciding which console to grab, it's finally time to settle on your top choice (if you plan to go with only one, that is). Now that the PS4 has been priced at $399 and a general timeframe of availability has been set for this holiday season, it's now time to head to online retailers to pre-order a unit of your very own. So far we've seen the page pop up on Amazon, though we imagine it will only be a matter of time before several other retailers follow suit. If you know without a doubt that this is the next-gen gaming console for you, you know what to do below.
