Eat your heart out: Chinese e-commerce firm delivers packages within hours

Jingdong Launches "Night Delivery" and "Three-Hour Delivery" Options
Two new delivery programs increase options for Jingdong customers

PR Newswire

BEIJING, May 31, 2013

BEIJING, May 31, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- Jingdong ("JD.com" or the "Company"), China's leading direct B2C e-commerce company, announced that it has launched two new delivery services today, including "Night Delivery," which expands the order deadline for same-day delivery from 11AM to 3PM, and "Three-Hour Delivery," setting a new standard for last-mile delivery in the e-commerce industry.

Beginning May 31, Jingdong customers can now receive orders placed before 3PM the same evening between 7PM and 10PM through the Company's self-operated delivery network. The new service expands on the same-day delivery option in Jingdong's 211 program, which previously required orders to be placed by 11AM.

Jingdong also launched "Three-Hour Delivery," an option for customers who want to receive their products within three hours of placing an order. Both Night Delivery and Three-Hour Delivery are currently available in six major cities, including Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou, Chengdu, Wuhan, and Shenyang, with the aim of increasing convenience and flexibility for customers.

Jingdong's last-mile delivery network offers customized delivery options to its customers, including same-day, next-day, and timed delivery, in more than 150 cities across China, with a wide variety of payment options, like cash on delivery. The two new delivery initiatives are the latest improvements in Jingdong's long-standing commitment to providing customers first in class service, from their ordering experience to their speedy and convenient delivery options.

Nickelodeon brings full episodes streaming to iPhone now, Xbox 360 next month

Nickelodeon released an iPad app with full episode streaming back in February, but now an update has opened things up to the iPhone and iPod touch as well. Version 1.1 also promises more music videos and less crashing, among other tweaks. However, if you have an agreeable cable or satellite provider, then the ability to watch video on-demand is the headliner. There are a few episodes available without logging in, but subscribers to DirecTV, Time Warner Cable, U-verse, FiOS, Bright House Networks, Cablevision, Hawaiian Telecom, Suddenlink and RCN will get the most mileage. Of course, if the kids (or, adult Big Time Rush fans, whatever works) prefer to watch their TV on TV, they may prefer the Xbox 360 app -- like Windows 8 and other platforms, the current app brings mostly clips and other tidbits -- that's on the way. Variety indicates it will hit the console June 25th, but, despite its post-E3 launch, its Xbox One launch plans are "not determined." There's a quick video preview embedded after the break, or you can hit the source link below and grab the free app for yourself.

You Don't Know Jack coming to OUYA June 11th

If you so much as touched a computer in the 1990s, we'd wager that the mere mention of You Don't Know Jack will bring back a flood of memories. Jellyvision's irreverent trivia game has seen a resurgence in popularity over the last few years, with its presence expanding to Facebook, iOS and Android, and the Jack Attack isn't stopping there: beginning June 11th, you can "Screw Your Neighbor" on the OUYA game console. You'll be able to get a trial 11-question episode for free or upgrade to get a full set of 20 games. Cleverly, this version includes a new feature called Party Play which lets up to three additional players compete against you by turning iOS and Android devices into external controllers. Not a bad addition for OUYA users eager to answer questions like the one you see above (and if you're curious, we're pretty sure the answer is "The Keebler Elves").

Carla Bruni Calls Terry Richardson Shoot ‘Magic’

Now that she's no longer France's first lady, Carla Bruni is back to singing, modeling, and being full-time fabulous. In a phone interview this week, WWD tried to get her to complain about the constraints of dressing for political duties, but she knew better than to complain about free clothes: "It was a pleasure," she said. "I worked with all the French fashion designers. It wasn’t really work. I could borrow their clothes for official occasions, it felt easy and pleasant."

Apparently her new Bulgari campaign, which was shot by Terry Richardson, wasn't really work, either. "It did not feel like being a model," she said. Instead: "It felt like shooting in a nostalgic movie as the shoot was in Rome in magic places, outside time. It was the first time I was working with Terry Richardson." Outside time? Let's hear more about these "magic places," please.
