Gesture lovers and polyglots rejoice! Yesterday, Google updated Gesture Search for Android phones and tablets, making it compatible with even more languages. The app provides quick access to music, contacts, applications, settings and bookmarks -- to name some -- by letting users simply draw characters on the screen. It now recognizes over 40 languages and even handles transliteration, which comes in handy in Chinese, for example, where some native characters require more strokes than latin equivalents. Gesture Search started life as a Google Labs project back in March 2010 and received several tweaks over the years, including tablet support last fall. So go ahead: download the latest version from the Play Store and swipe away.

Apple tells price fixing courtroom it owns 20 percent of the e-book market
Apple director Keith Moerer said in court on Tuesday that the company holds about 20 percent of the US e-book market, double the size commonly assumed. The revelation came after the Department of Justice tried to bolster its price fixing case against the company by asserting that "Apple forgot to focus on customers, that's why the iBookstore is a failure." Moerer responded that the online store has consistently held a 20 percent share since just after launching, adding that "sales grew 100 percent last year at the iBookstore and it had over 100 million customers." The government will continue trying to prove that Apple colluded with publishers like Macmillan and Harper Collins -- who settled out of court -- with testimony later today from Senior VP Eddy Cue.

Nintendo sees Mario and Zelda giving Wii U a big boost, 3DS continuing to grow
There's no question that Nintendo is hurting these days, mostly owing to the lackluster reception for the Wii U. The company's Scott Moffitt is upbeat, however: he tells CNET that the Wii U should enjoy a 3DS-like sales renaissance this holiday now that games in bigger franchises, like Mario and Zelda, are on the way. Of course, the 3DS also had the advantage of a dramatic price drop -- but never you mind that. As for the handheld's own performance this year? Moffitt claims that the 3DS is the only dedicated console whose sales are still growing, and he expects the system to have its best holiday yet. His positions on the 3DS and Wii U strike us as optimistic when Nintendo is up against two major console launches and the ever-present threat of smartphone gaming, but the gaming giant has defied the odds more than once in its history.

An Ode to Princess Diana’s Extraordinary Neckwear
On the same day that we all finally got to see a trailer of Naomi Watts as Princess Diana (shoulder pads!), British auction house Reeman Dansie announced that they're selling a spectacular cornerstone of her wardrobe: an Escada necktie, printed with elephants, from 1994. According to the Telegraph, the tie is expected to fetch at least £3,000 (about $4,700) when it goes to auction on June 18. Let's hope the movie is chock-full of comparable neckwear, because otherwise that'd be a real missed opportunity.
Finnish carrier DNA confirms it will be the first to launch Jolla phones running Sailfish
DNA to launch the Jolla smartphone as the first operator in the world
This year, DNA will launch the Jolla smart phone based on the Sailfish operating system in Finland. DNA will be the first operator to offer Jolla smartphones in Finland.
DNA will sell Jolla smartphones as the first operator in the world and as the only operator in Finland as soon as they enter the market. Jolla will be available in DNA Kauppa stores and DNA online, as well as at selected DNA retailers. Jolla unveiled its new smart phone in May.
DNA's cooperation with Jolla is a part of the DNA partnership strategy, aimed at providing Finnish people with the most appealing equipment and services on the market. DNA is the only operator to start the Jolla smart phone sales in Finland.
"As a Finnish operator, we consider it important to support this new Finnish success story, in which we see enormous potential. The partnership with Jolla reflects DNA's manner of doing business and is a fantastic example of the way in which we want to be involved in interesting innovations that bring real added value to their users. We boldly apply this start-up mentality to our own operations as well," says Pekka Väisänen, Vice President for DNA's Consumer Business.
DNA has also been involved in the Jolla smart phone's development from the very beginning. "In a spirit of 'co-creation' that is characteristic of Jolla, we have been able to influence the device's design and usability, allowing us to convey our customers' wishes directly to Jolla's development team, already at the design stage", says Väisänen.
"It is valuable to find a good operator as a partner in the domestic market. The cooperation between DNA and Jolla has been extremely rewarding, and we place particular value on the feedback regarding the wishes of customers, received from an operator that knows its clientele. Our two companies are equally enthusiastic about the launch of Jolla smart phones at DNA Stores nationwide during the last quarter," says Jolla CEO Tomi Pienimäki.
The Jolla pre-order campaign started in May at jolla.com. Those interested in the new Jolla mobile and the partnership of DNA and Jolla can leave their contact details with DNA at the address www.dna.fi/jolla.
Official Cloud Print app hits Google Play, streamlines your wireless printing needs
The official Cloud Print app has finally been released on Google Play, possibly rendering the third-party apps you've relied on over the years superfluous. Using the standalone software will likely be a familiar affair if you've ever printed via mobile devices in the past. Just choose a file saved on your phone, tablet or the cloud, and it'll make its merry way to your Cloud Print-ready device. Note that your photo or document still has to be funneled through your computer if you use a classic, wired printer. Head over to Google Play via the source link below to give Cloud Print a spin.
