Best Bet: Sculptural Nylon Whisks

For fans of the multifunctional kitchen tool—be it a Swiss Army–style grater or convertible blender/mixer/slow cooker—the real beauty of these sculptural nylon whisks ($18 at gretelhome.com) is their transformability. Thanks to a gliding, contrast-colored ring, you can expand the prongs for whipping custard as easily as you shorten them to stir up salad dressing. Pull it down all the way, and you have a sleek cylinder to slip into a drawer or, better yet, hang by its convenient slide-out hook.

Roberto Cavalli to Reveal All in New Memoirs

The outspoken Italian designer recently told Vogue U.K. that he'll be releasing an autobiography (that he's worked on for years) in October. "In a few months, you will know everything ... I don't know why I decided to do it — I guess I had something to write. It doesn't really talk about fashion though, it talks about me and my life," he explained in his trademark, somewhat-rambling style. Will it be as detailed as his blog? Or will it be his blog in book form? As of now, the 300-page memoir is slated for publication in Italian and German, while the designer seeks out a British publisher. We're crossing our fingers for more designer shade, loving thoughts on his German Shepard son Lupo, and honestly, any bonkers thought that pops up into his yacht-addled brain.

obsidian

The pure version of Tizen 2.0 is far from finalized, yet there already seems to be an alternative skin designed to sit on top of it. While Intel's chips are currently capable of powering the new open source OS, the chip company is reportedly working on its own overlaid UI, known as Obsidian. Ars Technica got its hands on two videos of it in action, featuring notably flat and square icons compared to the circular ones we've seen in the pure version. There's a consistent bottom strip of three soft keys for calls, messaging and contacts, and a tilt action for icons and contacts when a notification in an app is received. According to Ars, Intel may also bring the aesthetic to Android, surprising as that may sound. You can get a detailed look at its present state at the source link, while we scratch our heads asking "really?" and "why?"

Scarlett Johansson Wore Head-to-Toe Saint Laurent

At the 2013 Tonys last night held at Radio City Music Hall, the actress — who was denied a nomination for her performance in Cat on a Hot Tin Roof —appeared instead to present an award. Instead of dolling up in an ornate, flashy gown, Johansson walked the red carpet in a short black outfit by Saint Laurent, including a minidress with mesh sequined leopard spots on her upper chest, a silk-lapel blazer, and studded pumps. She improved upon her dark-and-sultry theme by painting her lips and nails a deep red. Even if the nominating committee wasn't, she definitely made Hedi proud.

Jason Wu Hired to Give Hugo Boss’s Womenswear a Makeover

Jason Wu has signed on as the new creative director of Hugo Boss's womenswear line, according to a press release from the label. This was rather unexpected: Boss hasn't employed big-name designers before, and it wasn't known that Wu — who has his own eponymous ready-to-wear, shoe, accessories, and diffusion lines — was fishing around for an extra project. Wu will continue to run his own label while attending to his new job, which Boss describes thusly:

[Wu] will assume responsibility and creative direction for all product and image related aspects of the principal womenswear Ready-to-Wear and Accessory line in the HUGO BOSS Group. In his role as Artistic Director, Jason Wu will oversee his team at the HUGO BOSS headquarters in Metzingen, Germany, and also open a design studio in New York.

Wu's position at Boss was created specially for him, and he'll be charged with expanding their womenswear offerings and elevating their profile as a cool place to shop instead of where our boyfriends buy their cologne. His first collection for the brand will be pre-fall 2014, and he'll present their fall 2014 offerings in a runway show at New York Fashion Week next March.

So what does this mean for Wu's future? It shows that his sights are set beyond his own label. In taking charge of Boss's womenswear, he'll have the opportunity to prove that he can design for a well-established international brand. This could pave the way for him to follow in the footsteps of fellow American designers like Marc Jacobs or Alexander Wang, and lead him to a major European fashion house. (Side note: Does this mean that Michelle Obama will wear Hugo Boss?)
