Kate Middleton’s Pram, and All the Other Royal Baby Rumors You Ever Wanted to Know

Kate Middleton's baby is almost here — her due date is in July — and now that she's holed up at her parents' house for the remainder of her pregnancy, the media has nothing to do but concoct rumors about her impending motherhood. We've rounded up all the information floating around the Internet, both factual and speculative, to quench your royal baby thirst. Read on for Kate's nursery color scheme, the name rumors, her birth plan, and all the other stuff you desperately need to know.

1. The Nursery
Kate is preparing two nurseries: one at her and Will's newly renovated apartment at Kensington Palace, and one at her parents' house in Bucklebury, where she'll reportedly stay for a few months after she gives birth (after his two weeks of paternity leave, William will return to his RAF duties). Her color scheme of choice apparently revolves around "herringbone brown," according to ABC News, which could be convenient for diaper accidents. She has supposedly purchased a $450 Moses basket as well as a Bugaboo Cameleon3 special edition stroller in jewel blue with black and white stripes. (Fun fact: Kate Hudson and Sienna Miller have the same stroller in different colors.) Last week, she was seen shopping for antiques near her parents house.

2. The Birth
There are conflicting reports about the due date, which is said to fall sometime between July 11 and 14. According to a detailed press release from St. James Palace, Kate intends to give birth naturally in a private wing of St. Mary's Hospital. She'll be attended to by her two gynecologists, and William will be present. Once the baby is born and all "senior" members of the royal family have been notified, the palace will announce the birth by putting a piece of paper on an easel out front that states the baby's gender, weight, and time of birth. They'll also tweet the news.

3. The Name
Kate and Will have chosen not to learn the baby's gender before its birth, and they've actually done a pretty good job of keeping it a secret. However, bookies have been taking bets on prospective names, and the current front-runner is Alexandra, one of the queen's several middle names, and also the name of William's godmother. The top boy name is George, which was the name of the Queen's dad as well as six previous British kings. Others in the running: Charlotte, which is Pippa's middle name (and the best name EVER, obviously), Philip, which is William's grandfather's name, and Elizabeth.

4. The Gifts
The Prime Minister of Australia knit the baby a little kangaroo stuffed animal, while Kate's uncle, Gary Goldsmith, told the Sun he plans to get the baby a tiny Chelsea football uniform.

5. Her Frame of Mind
Kate is "really enjoying her final weeks of pregnancy" and "finds pregnancy fascinating," according Us Weekly's unnamed source.

6. Other Random Tidbits
It's unclear whether Kate plans to breastfeed, but one woman wrote an impassioned op-ed for the Telegraph begging her to do so for "the good of the nation." The Duchess has also been taking cooking classes from the royal housekeeper, Antonella Fresolone.

Coach Taps Reed Krakoff’s Successor, Ending Marc Jacobs Rumors

Two months after Reed Krakoff announced that he was leaving Coach to focus on his eponymous brand, his successor has been announced: It's Stuart Vevers, former creative director of Loewe, a Spanish-based fashion house owned by LVMH, WWD reports. The appointment follows some rather far-fetched speculations about who might take the spot, including Mulberry's newly jobless Emma Hill, Chloé’s Clare Waight Keller, Derek Lam, Phillip Lim, Kate Spade's Deborah Lloyd, and even Marc Jacobs. Hey, these names made Coach look good! It's surprising the brand didn't let the rumors percolate for longer.

Krakoff's contract with Coach will expire in June 2014, but he's previously said he may exit earlier if his successor is ready. Vevers's exact start date hasn't been decided yet, per WWD, but the brand probably wants him in soon. Remember, they're also in the midst of transitioning another major executive role: Longtime CEO Lew Frankfort will retire in January, when the company's current president, Victor Luis, will take over his job (Frankfort will stay on as Coach's executive chairman). They've got plenty of time to iron things out, sure, but these are very large moving parts to coordinate.

So, who is this Stuart Vevers? He's helmed Loewe for five years and was previously the creative director of Mulberry from 2005 to 2008 (so there's at least some Emma Hill connection). Earlier in his career, he cut his teeth at Louis Vuitton, Givenchy, Bottega Veneta, and Calvin Klein — all brands with thriving accessories lines, as well as notable ready-to-wear collections. Loewe (pronounced lo-way-vay, not like the home-improvement store) is famous in Europe and Asia for their very expensive Amazona bags, but it's not widely known in the U.S. because they only broke into the New York market three years ago. Perhaps Vevers's appointment signals a shift to a more Europe- and Asia-friendly sensibility at Coach.

Kate Moss Still Plagued by Playboy Rumors

There were rumblings of Kate Moss for a Playboy cover back in March, but it seemed so implausible — Moss is hardly hurting for work or attention — that they quickly quieted down. But now they're back, thanks to hairstylist Oribe, who told Refinery29 that he'd done Moss's hair for the shoot in question. It'll supposedly come out in January, pegged to Moss's 40th birthday, and no doubt be "tasteful." Meanwhile, let's not forget that she's done so many nude shoots (including this year, for self-tanning brand St. Tropez, shown above), that full frontal would hardly be untrodden territory.

Lenovo in rumored talks with NEC over smartphone venture

NEC and Lenovo are already joined at the hip in the PC business, and rumors that the two will soon be smartphone partners as well continue to gather steam. Lenovo confirmed that it's started "preliminary negotiations with a party in connection with a potential joint venture transaction," and while it didn't name names, Japanese media sources and Reuters are claiming that it's NEC. Lenovo's the number two three smartphone vendor in China but doesn't have much of a presence elsewhere, and NEC, while a leader in Japanese handset sales, is still in a "difficult state," according to the company. Lenovo has the cash it needs and hasn't been shy about plans to expand its mobile business, so a relationship with NEC would make sense, if true -- and could help Lenovo realize those ambitions more quickly.

Yahoo to Hold News Conference Amid Tumblr Acquisition Rumors

Samantha-murphy By Samantha Murphy2013-05-17 20:45:20 UTC

Following rumors that Yahoo is in talks to buy blogging platform Tumblr for an estimated $1 billion, the company has sent members of the press invitations to a mysterious event it is holding next week.

The event, which will be held at 5:00 p.m. ET in New York City on Monday, includes the tagline on the invitation: "Join us as we share something special."

Yahoo Press Event Invitation

Company CEO Marissa Mayer is expected to speak at the product-related news event, according to CNBC.

The news comes as reports indicated this week Yahoo is closing in on a deal to buy Tumblr, which would make the transaction — if it's $1 billion — the largest since Facebook bought Instagram in 2012.

Yahoo rumors ahead of Monday's event include $11 billion Tumblr buy, Flickr updates

Earlier today, Yahoo sent press invites to a "product-related" event in New York City Monday afternoon and there are already two separate rumors about the company's plans. The first, from Bloomberg, concerns the event specifically and cites a "person familiar with the matter" reporting we'll hear about new updates for Yahoo's once-mighty Flickr photo service. The second is from AllThingsD which has upgraded rumors of a Tumblr purchase from possible to possibly imminent, saying the company's board will meet Sunday to decide whether it will make a $1.1 billion all-cash offer for the site. Since new CEO Marissa Mayer took over Yahoo has made a number of acquisitions with a focus on improving its homepage, content and app offerings including Flickr. That announcement is also penciled in for the 20th, but whatever actually goes down you can be sure we'll have the details as they're unveiled around 4PM ET.

Media has speculated that Fallon will take over in 2014 as host of The Tonight Show, which Leno has hosted for 21 seasons. Though neither side has officially confirmed the rumors, the hosts addressed them Monday night in between their two shows.
