Kate Upton, Crop Top Get Another Vogue Cover

Following Kate Upton's momentous American Vogue cover debut, the magazine's Brazilian edition decided to give Gisele the month off for once and tapped Upton for July. In a white crop top, no less! Other observations:

1. Her other Vogue covers (Italian, British, and American, in that order) have styled her hair to look fluffy and Marilyn Monroe–esque, but this one has her hair slicked back and wet-looking. You can barely tell it's blonde. When will someone throw a brunette wig on her and "shock" everybody?

2. Her matching pencil skirt, coat, and crop top are from Miu Miu's spring collection, and it's a new look for her — normally magazines don't put her in voluminous silhouettes. Obviously it's falling off her shoulder a bit, because her clothes just can't ... stay ... on.

Katy Perry’s First Vogue Cover Leaked Early

Here is Katy Perry, nestled in tall grass like a newborn lamb, her powdered face turned toward Annie Leibovitz's lens like a flower to the sun for her very first-ever Vogue cover. (It bears a striking resemblance to Anne Hathaway's December cover, no?) She's wearing Rodarte, which is definitely a step up from her cupcake bras and aggressive keyhole cutouts of yore.

But wait, how are we supposed to interpret that ring on her wedding finger? The headlines do hint that we'll hear about her love life — does this mean she'll discuss John Mayer? Or Russell Brand, who is now supposedly making out with Andre Balazs's daughter, of all people? What about Robert Pattinson? Alas, these questions won't be answered until Tuesday, when the full accompanying spread and cover story will come out. (And probably when the cover was supposed to go up, had it not leaked early on the Fashion Spot.)

Also of note: This cover reveals that the July issue will contain a story about Alexander Wang "Rebooting Balenciaga," which will surely be fluffy but hopefully interesting, as well as a feature about women who have to choose between a "good mood or good sex," which sounds unfortunate.

Behold: Cindy Crawford's First ‘Cover’ Shot

Last night, Cindy Crawford decided to use the all-reaching vortex of Twitter to delight the Internet with the single photograph that launched her modeling career: a black-and-white shot of her lounging in a striped bikini printed on the front page of her hometown paper, the DeKalb Nite WEEKLY. She tweeted, "My very first 'cover' during high school in DeKalb, shot in my high school boyfriend's backyard..." Then, "...Believe me when I say I had absolutely no idea where that photo would lead to!" But the most surprising aspect about the photo is the date: November 3, 1982. What in the world was Crawford doing laying out in a bathing suit in DeKalb, Illinois at that time of year (parka season in Illinois begins in October), and how was she not an icicle? Either her modeling skills were already on point, or she just wanted to show off her bikini bod to "DeKalb, Sycamore, & NIU readers" just before Thanksgiving. And now, to the entire universe.

Rebel Wilson Gets Her First Fashion Cover

Continuing the well-established tradition of photographing plus-size women with no clothes on, British Glamour put Rebel Wilson in lots of sex kitten makeup, diamonds, and a bubble bath for their July issue. And clichés aside, what a fun cover! It's her first of any women's magazines, if you can believe it. And don't worry, she got to wear a dress (and touch a hunky man) in the accompanying spread. Let the #GiveRebelMoreCovers campaign start ... now.

Microsoft promo buy a Surface RT, get a free Touch or Type Cover

There's no question that the Surface RT comes into its own with a keyboard cover; we can't imagine using the tablet unadorned. Microsoft can't, either, as it's launching a promo that gives the covers away. Americans and Canadians who buy the Windows RT slate between now and the end of June can get either the Touch Cover or the Type Cover for free, no matter which color they fancy. Surface Pro customers are out of luck, but it's hard to dispute the value for prospective Surface RT owners -- the deal amounts to at least a $100 discount on the touch PC's real-world price.

Update: To be clear, this promo has been running in other countries; it's just now debuting in North America, however.

Tweetbot 13 for Mac brings a media timeline, cover images

Tapbots' Tweetbot for Mac already has a reputation as the desktop Twitter client for media hounds, but a just-posted 1.3 update should make that especially clear. Like its iOS counterpart, the Mac app gains a dedicated media timeline: start a search and you can spotlight only photos and videos. There are a few perks for the vain among us, too. Tweetbot now supports profile cover images, and a redesigned tweet layout shows the counts for those inevitable favorites and retweets. So long as $20 isn't too much to pay for a dedicated social networking tool, 1.3's greater media savviness is waiting at the Mac App Store.

See Gisele’s First Post-Baby-Vivian Vogue Cover

It should surprise no one that Gisele Bundchen's tummy is already fashion-ready less than six months after she gave birth to her second child, daughter Vivian Lake, in December, because of course it is. Here she is on the cover of Vogue Brazil's June issue wearing the inexplicable combination of black bikini, leather vest, and body oil. Go ahead and insert all exclamations about her amaaazing post-baby body, gravity-defying such-and-such, and inhuman abs here, and just get it over with.

The 10 Most Engaging Facebook Cover Photos

Megan-foxTodd Wasserman2013-04-25 19:26:43 UTC

Ever since Facebook introduced its new cover photo design back in fall 2011, brands, celebrities and ordinary folks have been challenged on how exactly to use that prominent piece of real estate.

For those looking for some inspiration, ZoomSphere recently took stock of the most engaging cover photos on Facebook, which is defined as the photos that drew the most overall interactions. ZoomSphere culled the list from its top 1,000 Facebook pages as measured by overall fan followings. The list of cover photos shows that just having a lot of fans doesn't necessarily mean your photo will get high engagement. In fact, of the top 10 most-followed, only one — Shakira — had one of the most-engaged cover photos. (Take that, Rihanna!)

Other curious factoids: Vin Diesel showed up twice and Mitt Romney edged out President Obama.

Sam Laird2013-04-16 16:36:38 -0400

When a tragedy like the Boston Marathon bombing happens, it can be tough to define the line between sports news and hard news. This week, one of America's most iconic magazines gets it right. Above is the cover for April 22 issue of Sports Illlustrated, unveiled online Tuesday. It's some powerful stuff and no wonder the image has been shared far and wide on the social web since.

Let us know what you think of it in the comments below.
